"THERE IS MORE TO LIFE THAN INCREASING ITS SPEED" is a work in progress that attempt to discover what is common for the occidental choreography and origami tradition. What we find here as a key is the figure of “fractal” which is in our eyes common for the both artistic practices. The project is a movement performance collaboration between graphic designers and dancers, and is designed as a cross meeting of the ideas of performers from different artistic fields. It's an invitation for moving unmoved and setting unset.
Kaya Kołodziejczyk/Kaya is Polish choreographer/performer working interantionally in the contemporary arts field. In 2007 she took part in the Resonance’ research project supported by ProHelvetia, which afterwards gave an opportunity to create the Universal Law Of Impermanence U/LOI. This is how she became a part of the informal group. Numerous complex productions were born like f.ex.:Birth Out, :PK:, Off Zak Project, Audycja IV, RE//MIX, Oh Noh.. Kaya has graduated from HfMDK Frankfurt am Main, P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels and National Ballet School in Warsaw. She is a holder of several scholarships including those of Vlaamse Gemeenschapcommissie, Rudolf Nureyev Foundation, DanceWEB2004, A-I-R Pro Helvetia, NCK Młoda Polska, the Institute of A.Mickiewicz and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage/Poland. She worked as a dancer in the field of performing and visual arts with among others Ewelina Guzik + Pipilotti Rist, Rosas, Kris Verdonck, , David Wampach, Szymon Rogiński and Aleksandra Wasilkowska. Kaya is a contemporary dance teacher and guest lecturer for: Staatsheater Kassel, Theater St.Gallen, HfMDK Frankfurt am Main, Justus Liebig University in Giessen, San Diego State University, Ballet National de Marseille etc.
Universal Law Of Impermanence (U/LOI) U/LOI is an independent structure within which different movement /dance improvisations take place. In their group activities, the members of U/LOI are trying to catch and fix our attention on elements of everyday reality, which are lost in the usual way of perception. Body, movement, time, space, quasi-dancing events, organized in visible/invisible way in different spaces are documented as films and photographs. They are being transformed to performances that are taking place in galleries, old factories, and non-theatrical zone. Other group activities are: creating workshops, guiding master classes and teaching various techniques of dance/motion as an element of expression.
