Taking inspiration from the rings in a tree, this piece is an exploration of the history which is written on the body. Using contemporary dance which is informed by bharatanatyam, Ring Cycle looks at the layers created by experience, and the imprint they leave on the body.

Shamita Ray, Scotland. Ballet and contemporary dance (Urdang Academy of Ballet and Performing Arts), and Bharatanatyam (Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, London). She is working internationally as dancer and teacher with a particular interest in contemporary Indian dance.
