In this thoroughly (and intentionally) “unoriginal” work Jess Curtis references and cites numerous works of contemporary performance and critical theory examining the ownership, control and contextualization of our bodies and the creation of meaning involved in their representation.
Rachael Lincoln, Dance/Aerials, working between San Francisco and Berlin where she recently began developing and presenting seeds for her upcoming collaborative duet project, 'Global Affairs'. She is currently working with Project Bandaloop and continuing her research of short-term collaboration processes to make performable dance.
Jess Curtis founded GRAVITY PHYSICAL ENTERTAINMENT in 2000 as a research and develop-ment vehicle for live performance. Jess has received four Isadora Duncan Dance awards, was a recipient of the prestigious 2001 California Dancemakers Fellowship and recently was awarded a Fringe First Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for his latest work “fallen“. www.848.com/jesscurtis

“Das Bedürfnis einen ungemütlichen Ort zu finden, der mir das “Einschlafen“ unmöglich macht, hat mich dazu gebracht, eine introspektive Reise zu unternehmen mit dem Körper als komplexe und unverzichtbare Ausrüstung.“
Ohne sich zu ernst zu nehmen und mit feinem Humor ist Cristallo di Fiato ein sensibles Ereignis - eine Reise, aus dem Alltag entwickelt. Elemente aus Choreografie und Tanz werden neu gemischt und bieten dem Zuschauer immer wieder neue Bilder und Geschichten an.
G. Di Cicco arbeitet zur Zeit am DIST – Laboratorio di Informatica Musicale (Institut für Musikinformatik) – Università di Genova, Facoltà di Ingegneria. Seit 1983 Zusammenarbeit mit der Compagnia Arbalete in Genua. 1987 künstlerische Leitung zusammen mit Claudia Monti. Arbalete ist eine Formation unterschiedlichster Künstler, die sich seit 10 Jahren mit zeitgenössischer Musik und choreografischer Recherche auseinandersetzt. U.a. gewann sie 1995 den Preis „Premio Giovani Autori“ bei dem Concorso Internazionale di Videodanza „Il coreografo elettronico“ (Internationaler Videotanzwettbewerb). Als Verein bietet Arbalete eine intensive Unterrichtsarbeit sowie einen Informationsservice mit dem Ziel an, den zeitgenössischen Tanz zu unterstützen und zu verbreiten. Von 1994 bis 2001 veranstaltete Arbalete „La danza e le arti“, ein Festival des zeitgenössischen Tanzes. Die Kompanie wird seit 1983 vom Dipartimento Generale dello Spettacolo unterstützt.

Without taking themselves too seriously and with a fine blend of humour, Cristallo di Fiato is a tender event – an excursion, developed out of the everyday. Choreographic and danced elements are recombined, continuously offering the audience new images and stories.
G. Di Cicco is currently working at DIST – Laboratorio di Informatica Musicale (Institute for Music Technology) – Università di Genova, Facoltà di Ingegneria. Collaborates with the Compagnia Arbalete in Genoa since 1983. 1987 artistic director together with Claudia Monti. Arbalete is a group of different artists, who have been exploring contemporary music and choreographic research for the last 10 years. A.o. they won the „Premio Giovani Autori“ prize at the Concorso Internazionale di Videodanza „Il coreografo elettronico“ (International Video Dance Competition) in 1995. As an association, Arbalete offers intensive working classes as well as an information service with the aim of supporting and disseminating contemporary dance. From 1994 to 2001, Arbalete organized a festival of contemporary dance „La danza e le arti“. |
