Köper, Bäume, Dinge - Präsentation + Reflexion
Am 10. Mai 2012 zeigt(e) Paula Kramer ihre performative Abschlussarbeit als Teil ihrer künstlerisch-praktischen Promotion im Fachbereich Tanz der Coventry University (UK). Im Rahmen des Open Studio wird sie sowohl Aspekte dieser Prüfung zeigen, als auch darüber sprechen, wie es gelaufen ist. Wie funktioniert eine künstlerische Abschlussprüfung im Rahmen eines akademischen Forschungsprojektes?
Die Veranstaltung wird Teile der vorangegangenen Performance, sowie neues Material für Ort und Rahmen des Artistic Research Lab Berlin, zeigen. Im Anschluss wird dazu eingeladen, den gesamten Prozess gemeinsam zu diskutieren.
Ein Teil der Präsentation wird draußen unter freiem Himmel stattfinden, bitte entsprechend kleiden.
Paula Kramer, Berlin / Coventry tanzt, forscht und unterrichtet draußen - sowohl in der Natur als auch im urbanen Kontext. Derzeit ist sie Stipendiatin an der Coventry University und arbeitet im Fachbereich Tanz an einer künstlerisch-praktischen Promotion bei Prof. Sarah Whatley. Sie ist intensiv an Forschung und Lehre beteiligt, sowie Redaktionsassistentin des Journal of Dance and Somatic Practices. Paula’s Forschung untersucht zeitgenössische Tanzpraxen - draußen in der Natur. Wie arbeiten Tanzschaffende und Performer/innen hier? Wie erfassen und positionieren sie den Menschen in seinen unterschiedlichen Bezügen, etwa in seinem Verhältnis zur Natur? Ihre Arbeit befasst sich auch mit den Vermittlungsmöglichkeiten von Forschung durch hybride Formate und künstlerische Praxis – welche Artikulationsmöglichkeiten gibt es neben dem traditionellen akademischen Text?
Body, trees and things - A Reflective Presentation
On May 10th 2012 Paula Kramer is (was) showing the final practice-as-research performance of her PhD in Dance at Coventry University (UK). In the context of the Open Studio she will share some of the material of the event as well as reflect on how it went. How does a ‘practice-as-research’ exam figure into the context of academic research with artistic tools?
The presentation will include aspects of the past event, new material developed for the site and context of the Artistic Research Lab Berlin, as well as a reflection and discussion of the process as a whole
Part of the presentation will take place outdoors, please dress accordingly.
Paula Kramer is an outdoor practitioner-researcher, who performs, teaches and researches in remote rural as well as urban sites. She has a background in political science and is currently completing her PhD in Dance at Coventry University, where she is editorial assistant of the Journal of Dance and Somatic Practices and actively involved in research and teaching. Paula’s research examines contemporary outdoor dance practices in the natural environment. How do dance makers and performers work in and amongst nature? What implications do their practices have for conceptualising the relationship between the human and non-human? Her work emphasises the articulation and dissemination of research through practice or hybrid formats, placing creative practice not only as a central part of the research processes, but also as integral to how research is communicated.
